Suzanne Hindman serves as the Assistant Director of ELA/Literacy. Suzanne contributes to the design and implementation of the Smarter Balanced assessment system, working to assure grade-appropriate alignment with academic standards. In addition, she contributes to the production of resources and professional development materials for the Digital Library, which links the formative and summative assessment processes. Suzanne supports the Consortium’s efforts to align standards, instruction, and assessment. Most recently, she served as the ELA Assessment Specialist with the Michigan Department of Education. She has 15 years of teaching experience at Grades 7-12 from which she pulls her student-focused assessment philosophy.
Suzanne earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and French from Indiana University and a Master of Arts degree in English from Northern Michigan University.
