Heidi serves as the senior director of supports for instruction. Her work contributes to the Consortium’s commitment to a balanced assessment system by supporting the development and use of formative assessment resources. Heidi manages the Smarter Balanced Digital Library, an online collection of resources for educators that are aligned to the Common Core and designed to help improve classroom-based assessment practices.
Heidi completed her doctorate in curriculum, instruction, and assessment from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Her training and research experiences have focused on innovative and equitable approaches to classroom assessment, as well as the development and technical evaluation of instruments designed to measure formative assessment practices. She has conducted research for the National Science Foundation and the Institute of Education Sciences. Heidi has a master’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Davis.
Heidi likes to bake, and she enjoys hiking in the Rocky Mountains near her home.
