Jennifer serves as the Director of Mathematics. She oversees the Consortium’s efforts to ensure the Smarter Balanced assessment system effectively measures the depth and breadth of the Common Core State Standards in Mathematics. In this role, Jennifer provides oversight for mathematics item development and design of the interim and formative assessments and promotes the production of resources and professional development materials that support educators across the consortium states to utilize the resources in their classrooms.
Jennifer completed her doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Washington. Her research focused on Utilizing Smarter Balanced Assessment Resources to Support Classroom Instruction in Mathematics. Jennifer began as a middle school mathematics teacher and has taught high school, college and university mathematics and education courses. Her most recent role was as the Secondary Mathematics Assessment Specialist for the state of Washington where she oversaw development of the high school End-of-Course Exams in mathematics and supported the work of Smarter Balanced as part of the Mathematics Advisory Committee.
Jennifer enjoys teaching fitness classes and going on Disney adventures with her children.
